Wanted: A Few Court Jesters

Accordingly, I believe that one of the more needed ministries today is that of Court Jester. Someone needs to be appointed to throw a pie in the face of the next “man of the hour.” Rather than crying out “Amen!”, the Jester would begin slapping his knees and screaming, “What a hoot!”

Furthermore, each time our earnest friend began doing his best imitation of Charlton Heston playing Moses, the Jester would yell, “I nominate this line for the Top Ten Pontifications of the Week award!” As Shakespeare wrote—“that idiot, laughter, so hateful to our purpose.” (King John)
